# Claude and ChatGPT

Both add Weir as a connector and sign in with OAuth. Neither can send an API key, so there is no key
to create.

## Claude

Works in Claude on the web, Claude Desktop, and the mobile apps. The connector is added once and
follows your account.

1. **Pro and Max:** open **Customize**, then **Connectors**, then **+ Add**, then **Add custom
   connector**. **Team and Enterprise:** open **Organization settings**, then **Connectors**, then
   **Add**, then **Custom**, then **Web**. On Team, only Owners can add one.
2. Name it `Weir` and paste the URL:

   ```
   https://api.weirapp.io/mcp
   ```

3. Leave the authentication settings as Claude detects them, and connect. Claude opens Weir's
   consent screen. Sign in and approve.

**Check:** in a new chat, ask "What's my Weir usage?" Claude should call `get_usage`.

Things to know:

- Claude reaches the server from Anthropic's cloud, not from your machine. The URL has to be
  public, so a local API will not work here.
- `claude_desktop_config.json` is for local servers. Do not put this URL in it.
- The Free plan allows one custom connector.
- If you sign in to Claude Code with the same Claude account, connectors added here show up there
  too.

## ChatGPT

Custom MCP servers are available on ChatGPT Business and Enterprise/Edu, on the web. Pro accounts
can connect one with read and fetch permissions. On Business, only admins and owners can add one.

1. Go to [chatgpt.com/plugins](https://chatgpt.com/plugins), click **+**, and choose **Add custom MCP
   server**.
2. Name it `Weir`, set the server URL, and choose **OAuth** for authentication:

   ```
   https://api.weirapp.io/mcp
   ```

3. Accept the warning, choose **Create as a plugin**, and install it. Sign in to Weir and approve
   when asked.
4. In a chat, mention `@Weir` to use it.

You do not need to turn on developer mode first.

**Check:** ask "@Weir what's my Weir usage?" ChatGPT should call `get_usage`.

When Weir adds tools, open the plugin and use **Refresh**. A plugin published to a workspace keeps
the tool list it was created with until an admin refreshes it.
